So I figured I should have another update and try to keep this site afloat. I got a new desk a couple weeks ago that I think is pretty amazing (there’s a picture on my flickr page). It’s a lot bigger than my old one was, there’s about twice as much space actually. I don’t know if I like the look of my Model M on there or not though, my Das keyboard looks a lot nice since it’s black and the desk is kind of a darker brown. Oh well I think I’ll use my Model M since I like it better as a keyboard, looks aren’t everything.
In other news I’ve been trying to improve my programing skills. I made it though my Java book I was working on not too long ago and figured I should try to learn something else. So I’m working on learning Ruby on Rails, which is very interesting, I found a few books on it and I think it’ll be pretty cool once I get it down more. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do more web development. I should have learned this stuff a long time ago but I’ve been slacking on my coding skills, lol.
Also, the Super Bowl is this weekend, not that I’m too excited about it. The two teams aren’t any of my favorites. I was a little bummed that the packer didn’t make it (as was Jon), but oh well those things happen I guess. Hopefully the Borncos (my team) do better next year or actually a lot better.
Finally, that stupid writers strike needs to end. I believe they’ve finally run out of new episodes Family Guy and American Dad, which is very sad, no more Peter Griffin or Stan Smith to liven up my Sunday night. Also it’s been forever since there’s been an episode of The Office or any other sitcom for that matter. That has to be hurting the networks a little. You’d think it would also hurt the writer’s and make them want to settle this thing, but I guess not. It’ll have to end one of these days though it can’t go on forever. I hope not anyway.
That’s about all the news and rants I have for now. I’ll try to post again soon.

Well it’s that time of year again Macworld ‘08 and good old Steve Jobs had his keynote address this morning. A lot of new stuff was announced and I figured I might as well give my opinion on it all. You can find more out about the products on Apple’s website.
MacBook Air: It’s a nice idea to make a more portable laptop, but this is just too expensive considering the features it has. $3,000+ for a 64GB SSD that’s a little crazy. Plus I can’t get over not having firewire, it feels weird without it.
iTunes Movie Rentals: Sounds like a cool idea.
Over 1000 movies - available 30 days after the DVD release of the film.
Watch anywhere - Macs, PCs, all current iPods and iPhone.
Watch instantly - 30 second delay with modern broadband
Rules - 30 days to start watching, 24 hours to complete once started
Pricing - $2.99, new releases $3.99
I’ll just have to wait and see how the quality is, but if it’s like the movies and shows they have now then I’m all for it.
iPod Touch software update: I have an iPod Touch so all I have to say is “$20 to upgrade wtf!”, it’s only 4 new apps that they really should have had on there to begin with.
iPhone Software Update: They look like cool new apps, but I don’t have an iPhone and won’t probably ever get one, so it’s kinda not a big deal to me.
Time Capsule: Awesome. At home I’m usually hooked to my external HDs at my desk, so it’s not that big a deal for me, but I still think it’s really awesome to have a wireless HD that’s got Apple’s ease of use.
So there you have it. A quick look at what I thought of the Macworld keynote. I know someone will probably reply and say I’m crazy, but oh well, I’m used to it by now.

You might notice an even greater slowdown than usual in my future post (hopefully not though). I created a Tumblr page so I can post all the videos, links, photos, ect. that I think are awesome. It’ll be better this way because now silentrapper.com can focus more on text based posts, such as more journal-like entries, my random film reviews, and other things. If there’s something that I post on my tumblr and think it needs more attention I’ll try to write up more of an article/discription of it here rather than just linking to it. It’s also a lot easier to add things to my tumblr (such as links and videos) than it is to post them here. Anyway, I just wanted to put a post up here so everyone would know to go check out ReidGober.com. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving America.

Okay so I might as well have another post on here. This time I shall talk about my awesome IBM model M keyboard. I love this thing, it’s built very solid and I can type forever on it without having an problems at all (which says a lot since it was built back in 1990). I got it for $20 off Ebay which isn’t too bad I think. I like the mechanical key switches in it, they make for a much better typing experience than I ever had on any of my past keyboards. It has actual springs under each key making for a more responsive and tactile feel when typing. I think I’ll stick with this for a very long time, I don’t feel a need to jump on the new Apple keyboards like everyone else, I never was a fan of the MacBooks keyboard anyway and the new Apple one is just like that. All in all I’d say go find one somewhere, I’m sure some school is throwing a bunch of them out down the street as we speak so go get one.
Here are some links since I’m never one of the best at describing things.
